Videocratz
Is the alter ego of Miki Arregui when he engages in live visual sessions as Vj or when he collaborates with other musical artistes, for instance Máquina de Turing in the past or Wooky and Filastine in the present.
Videocratz has a particular interest in creating visual material that, among other things, plays with the manipulation of time, space and physical movement, using photographic animation techniques such as timelapse-hyperlapse or classic animation both stop-motion and camera-based.
Landscapes, portraits, details, macros….
Another aspect of the sessions is the play with feedback using both software and hardware, which allows clips to be deconstructed and accentuates the synchronous wealth of movement, changes or displacements and so supports the creation of endless semi-random visuals, aesthetically similar to glitches, that give the mainly figurative content an abstract feel.
As to content, Videocratz's sessions stand out for their indirect, suggested critique; the message, the counterposition of concepts, humour or visual poetry; an observation of the world that surrounds us; among other things, offering certain aspects of 'reality' filtered through the optic senses, one's own eyes. All this frequently mixed at a rhythm in time to the music, resulting in the creation of entire visionscapes or in unrestrained, even epileptic mixes.
