B2B Festival - Barcelona <> Berlín

International electronic music and mixed media festival featuring artists from Berlin and Barcelona

What is the B2B Festival – Barcelona <> Berlin?
The B2B project ‘B2B Festival – Berlin to Barcelona’ first emerged in 2008. It was conceived both as a platform for music groups and artists working with new technologies to show their work, and as a means for two multidisciplinary art venues, Piatto Forte in Berlin and Antic Teatre in Barcelona, to realise and produce various projects.
Support is given to artists of all ages: they may be emerging and unknown, or have long-running careers, but they share a difficulty in finding outlets for their work on existing, conventional music circuits and festivals. Each artist develops his or her own line in research on sounds, programmes, video creation, and so on, working outside commercial and established parameters. We select live acts and DJ sets in experimental music, dance, Electro, Electro-punk and visual arts in order to give these artists visibility and establish a regular exchange between the two cities.

Why Berlin?
Because Berlin is happening. At the moment, Berlin is the most dynamic and lively city with regard to all art sectors. Artists in Berlin have a wealth of possibilities for realising and exhibiting their work that is way above what is available in any other European city. Also, Berlin is still economically accessible to artists of all social backgrounds. The city is full of all-night venues, galleries, clubs, shops, creation spaces, theatres, festivals, concert halls, bars, etc., with local legislation adapted to make all these activities possible.

The material result of this project is the international electronic music and mixed media festival featuring artists from Berlin and Barcelona, which will run for the fifth consecutive year this November in Barcelona as Antic Goes Electric Vol. V.

This year and for the first time, thanks to the support of the Institute of Culture (ICUB) and the Instituto Ramon Llull of Barcelona, the festival will also take place in Berlin. On September 21st and 22nd seven Barcelona artists will join Berlin artists to create the B2B Festival programme at the Gretchen Club, one of the best-known venues in the Kreuzberg area – an opportunity for experimental music from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands to reach international audiences. The B2B project is supported in Berlin by Piatto Forte, a music shop and venue that also functions as a platform for happenings, performances and live acts. It is managed by DJ Baroxmix, Michele d’Alessio, musician and well-known DJ at many European clubs, and committed backer of anti-conventional electronic music.

JONÁS
(Ex Víctimas del Tekno - BCN)

DJ Set

The core of my session is Techno, always combined with a good dose of Electro. I work with the power and force of Techno and add the play inherent in Electro.

I started mixing music in 1999, at first at the rave organised by Tasmaniac and other groups from other countries. In 2000 we set up VICTIMS OF TEKNO and were constantly putting on raves, either on our own or with other groups that were beginning to shape the Catalan and national rave scenes. Those years I mixed at raves, squats or alternative venues such as Bananas Factory.

From 2003 onwards, in addition to this, I got involved in the afters circuit both in Barcelona and the Basque country.

In 2010 I took part in the SZIGET festival, the biggest in Europe.

NICO BAIXAS (BCN)

Ciromorphic Interactive Multimedia Performance

In my creative process, I started getting interested on the hands. Then, I discovered that one of their functions was to generate shapes and I decided to develop this facet until its limits, capturing and cataloguing more than one thousand postures that I organized in family's. This could be considered like an alphabet in which the letters would be the hand figures. Then, to continue developing the work, I designed and developed a multimedia system that allowed me to conjugate this letters to create words or sentences. This system, also allowed me to paint using this shapes, and many other things. As you can see, as my work evolved, it began to seem like a language. Right now, I'm in the point where i start to use this language in different ways, and in this performance I intend to continue developing it but this time with the body.

After having presented this manual sculpture-like development, I now use a multimedia system with projections which allows me to show how I structure the work, add images and modify parameters of space so that my hands get multiplied, generating more complex structures. This system is interactive; it is controlled by voice and can also be synchronized with music and pre-recorded image projections

Performer and Multimedia Artist. His pieces combine elements and ideas which belong to the fields of performance, plastic, multimedia or visual arts. He has a solid experience as an actor. He belonged to the companies General Eléctrica, Carnicería Teatro (Rodrigo García). He has also collaborated with Marcelí Antúnez, Ojos de Brujo, Federic Amat, Joan Baixas o Sonia Gómez amongst others. He has toured on his own with a show that his mother created wich whas interpreted only with his hands. As well as working as an actor in cinema, he has also worked as a Scriptwriter and an editor in New York and Barcelona.

MADEMOISELLE OUI OUI (BCN)

Visuals

Real-time creation and experimentation with images taken from found footage and self-made material, previously edited using digital and photochemical processes, re-mixed live following various artistic styles. The result is a visual derivé of atmospheric, suggestive landscapes, abstract and concrete images which are full of colour, dirt and irony.
Snippets of everyday life randomly sequenced, juxtaposition of planes and repetitions create a frantic, experimental, extremely Vertovian montage. The original meanings of the images are distorted by a détournement to create a new, ecstatic, cathartic universe, delivering the viewer to an artificial state where his neurosphere will be constantly challenged by a continuous, self-renovating Moebius strip of meaning. I would define my mise-en-scene as an audio-visual performance that plays with the laws of entropy and randomness, generating a plastic discourse that reinterprets the world that surrounds us and, like a system of rhizomes, diversifies chaos, opening the doors of poetic irrationality.

Mademoiselle Oui Oui is the pseudonym of multidisciplinary artist, philosopher, actress and visual artist from Barcelona, Carolina Cabrerizo. Her work is a voyage during which she carves out emotions using images. She has worked making videos for various artists such as Zink Tank collective or singer Miss Q to whose live performances she brings her visual creations. Her works have been exhibited at festivals such as Minimadelia Design Circus (Madrid) and El Globo de Juan (Braga, Portugal). She collaborates with theatre company La Viuda creating and presenting videos. She has performed at venues such as Antic Teatre, BeGood, Discos Paradiso, Niu, Miscelanea, Karriere Bar (Copenhagen) and Madame Claude (Berlin).

She is currently developing her own project "el Ser y el Otro" produced by Producciones Instantáneas.

QUIM TARRIDA
(BCN)

Space design "Paradise"

“Paradise”
[…] Being instated as an archangel, Satan made himself multifariously objectionable and was finally expelled from Heaven. Halfway in his descent he paused, bent his head in thought a moment and at last went back. "There is one favour that I should like to ask," said he.
"Name it."
"Man, I understand, is about to be created. He will need laws."
"What, wretch! you his appointed adversary, charged from the dawn of eternity with hatred of his soul, you ask for the right to make his laws?"
"Pardon; what I have to ask is that he be permitted to make them himself."
It was so ordered.
Ambrose Bierce. The Devil's Dictionary, 1911

Quim Tarrida (Barcelona 1967) is a multi-disciplinary creator whose artistic production, in addition to music and performance, includes photography, video, painting and sculpture, in which he establishes links to the universe of lost childhood. An irretrievable childhood in opposition to the adult world, where dreams no longer have a relevant role, and in which the dominant game is played according to economic and political interests that lead to power struggles. In short, a world in which play is far removed from the sweetened image which normally surrounds childhood. In this way, the artist emphasizes the closeness to be found between play and violence, between reality and fiction. Tarrida works at the limit between the ludic component of the toy version and the military artefact, revealing the thin line that separates one reality from the other.
