B2B Festival - Barcelona to Berlín

International electronic music and mixed media festival featuring artists from Berlin and Barcelona

What is the B2B Festival – Barcelona <> Berlin?
The B2B project ‘B2B Festival – Berlin to Barcelona’ first emerged in 2008. It was conceived both as a platform for music groups and artists working with new technologies to show their work, and as a means for two multidisciplinary art venues, Piatto Forte in Berlin and Antic Teatre in Barcelona, to realise and produce various projects.
Support is given to artists of all ages: they may be emerging and unknown, or have long-running careers, but they share a difficulty in finding outlets for their work on existing, conventional music circuits and festivals. Each artist develops his or her own line in research on sounds, programmes, video creation, and so on, working outside commercial and established parameters. We select live acts and DJ sets in experimental music, dance, Electro, Electro-punk and visual arts in order to give these artists visibility and establish a regular exchange between the two cities.

Why Berlin?
Because Berlin is happening. At the moment, Berlin is the most dynamic and lively city with regard to all art sectors. Artists in Berlin have a wealth of possibilities for realising and exhibiting their work that is way above what is available in any other European city. Also, Berlin is still economically accessible to artists of all social backgrounds. The city is full of all-night venues, galleries, clubs, shops, creation spaces, theatres, festivals, concert halls, bars, etc., with local legislation adapted to make all these activities possible.

The material result of this project is the international electronic music and mixed media festival featuring artists from Berlin and Barcelona, which will run for the fifth consecutive year this November in Barcelona as Antic Goes Electric Vol. V.

This year and for the first time, thanks to the support of the Institute of Culture (ICUB) and the Instituto Ramon Llull of Barcelona, the festival will also take place in Berlin. On September 21st and 22nd seven Barcelona artists will join Berlin artists to create the B2B Festival programme at the Gretchen Club, one of the best-known venues in the Kreuzberg area – an opportunity for experimental music from Catalonia and the Balearic Islands to reach international audiences. The B2B project is supported in Berlin by Piatto Forte, a music shop and venue that also functions as a platform for happenings, performances and live acts. It is managed by DJ Baroxmix, Michele d’Alessio, musician and well-known DJ at many European clubs, and committed backer of anti-conventional electronic music.

ELLE P.

Live

Mixed media artist and vocalist-dance performer

An artistic background and numerous live performances frame the skills of this remarkable vocal performer covering a wide range of musical styles, whose lyrics can flirt as easily with Dadaism as with profound poetry, edgy and experimental productions to appear dotted with edgy Grace Jones/Nina Hagen/Lene Lovich-esque references with light elements of a late Trish Keenan lifted by Elle P.'s unassuming singing that carries her melody lines like a kiss blown across a great lake.

Elle P.' s unique and diverse singing style has been used on experimental music productions as well as in many collaborations and performances with respected artists. With Iftah Gabbai, one-half the Berlin based, bpitch cult live act Skinnerbox, she forms the duo Elle P. & Iftah. In 2010 they released an outstanding EP called 'Sick Liar/Pink Painter' on Tiefschwarz's Souvenir Records which was remixed by dOP and Ruede Hagelstein. The latter remix was chosen by Sven Väth to open his Sounds of the Eleventh Season Compilation.

In 2011, within 12 days the duo composed, wrote and recorded 12 songs and
released their 238-tascam tape-recorded album called 'Mrs. Oscillator & her Pocket
Calculator'
on an MC →, which was celebrated in music magazines like De:bug Magazine 'brilliant idiosyncratic pop', in the February issue of the German-language Rolling Stone Magazine ('Great songs, presented with charm!'), and by the UK press as 'earthy edgy and full of bountiful imagination rising above the morass to make the difference by adding verve and personality to a lovely mixture of electro pop vignettes ranging from speedy dance ditties to beautiful atmospheric music and some pretty decent songwriting'. The Mercedes-Benz Mixed Tape blog, which features the best new talents from around the world, announced them as the new artists to watch.

Elle P.'s next output is planned for autumn and winter of 2012, including, among others, a project of Elle P. & Ruede Hagelstein and the second album by Elle P. & Iftah. Furthermore, she’ll be featured in a brand new German TV documentary about contemporary artists.
